Basketball is offered to all 7th and 8th grade girls at West.  Basketball tryouts starts right after school the first day back from winter break, run for three days and meets in the gym.  The girls do not need to be there for all three days of tryouts, but parents must realize the more time the coaches have to see the girls the better the chance they of making the team.  Students need an athletic physical to participate, gym shoes and a water bottle.  West provides all other equipment in the form of a uniform top, shorts and a practice penny.  All school issued equipment is the responsibility of the student and if lost or damaged, must be paid for upon completion of the season.  Please see the bottom of the page to open the schedule.

Track

Swimming (2017 schedule below)
The swim team is offered to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders at West.  The swim team will meet everyday after school starting the second day back from spring break. No prior experience in a pool is necessary. The goal of our program is to provide students with basic skill development, introduce them to the competitive side of the sport in a laid back setting and eliminate any fear of the water.  The students compete in three total meets against Central, North and in an All City meet to conclude the season.  Students are encouraged to purchase a swim cap, but not required.  Jammer swim suits and one piece suits for girls are encouraged.   Please see the bottom of the page to open the schedule.

Golf Club
Golf Club is offered to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders at West.  Golf Club will meet on Fridays starting the week we get back from spring break. This is a drop-in program for all WMS students and no prior experience in golf is necessary. The goal of our program is to provide students with basic skill development and a variety of playing opportunities.  The completion of the club is always an annual WMS Student/Staff Golf Scramble Tournament at "The States" golf course in Vicksburg.  This special tournament is an opportunity for our golf club students to invite a WMS staff member to be in their foursome.  Schedule TBA.

Intramural Volleyball
WMS Intramural Volleyball will meet from 3:00-4:30pm after school the month of March.  This is a drop-in program for all WMS female 6th grade students and no prior experience in volleyball is necessary. The goal of our program is to provide students with basic skill development, a variety of playing opportunities and an introduction to the game of volleyball.  Instruction will be provided by the High School Varsity coaches, current West coaches and volunteer High School Volleyball Players.  Students will meet at the WMS gym at 3:00 every day before practice starts.  Practice will end at 4:30.  Parents may pick up their student at the school’s front entrance after practice.  Parents are asked to please have a ride scheduled to pick your child up no later than 4:45 as our coaches need to get to other scheduled activities.  Students do not need an athletic physical to participate in Intramural Volleyball and there is no fees attached to participation in this.

Concussion Awareness Forms can be found below.  Please print one off, sign the second page and turn it in to the main office.  Students must have a form signed and on file in the office in order to participate in all school activities.
